El Alamein controls the coast of North Africa which opens the way to all of Egypt and trade routes to the Far East via the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. During World War II, the Axis powers wanted to dominate Egypt in order to close Britain's sea routes to its colonial empire, which the British were desperate to protect. Beginning in 1940 with the Italian invasion of Egypt via Libya, the coastal city of Diffa was the scene of constant battle.
El Alamein Museum
There is a small El Alamein Museum, about a mile west of the British Monument, on the north side of the road, for anyone interested in war memorabilia. It's worth stopping by. It was created in 1965 from debris found on the battlefield, and contains uniforms, weapons, flags and other war paraphernalia. Displays include photographs and battle sites
El Alamein Military Cemetery
Designed by Sir Herbert Worthington and held by the British War Graves Commission in Cairo, here 7,367 men from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, India and Malaysia are buried in individual graves, while 11,945 men, whose bodies have never been found, are honored in The monastery that precedes the cemetery
Behind the monastery are the individual graves, each, surmounted by a white marker. About 815 soldiers have been identified and their names are inscribed above the graves.
German War Memorial
Kilometers away, west of the Italian marker, the German War Memorial is a single octagonal building erected in 1959, overlooking the sea, similar to Castel del Monte. The memorial contains the bodies of 4,280 German soldiers. At the entrance, it stands on a magnificent gold mosaic. To the right of the entrance is a chapel where families and friends honor the dead with wreaths, photos and memorial ribbons.
Italian Monument
The elegant white marble Italian Monument, the largest building at El Alamein, is located 5 kilometers from the German Monument and was designed by Paolo Caccia Dominoni who served at El Alamein and also wrote a book about it
At the entrance there is a small museum and in the church there is an inscription (To the 4,800 Italian soldiers, sailors and airmen, the desert and the sea did not return 38,000 missing persons)

Have a wonderful night in Siwa
Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at 07:00 AM from hotel. Today you will visit the tourist attractions in Siwa, we will start with the Temple of Alexander the Great also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is believed that Alexander the Great wished to consult the Siouan oracle to obtain confirmation that he was the son of Zeus. Greek god of gods, when he and his retinue arrived at the Siwa Oasis after a long journey through the desert.
Then head to the salt lake. The salt water takes you above the water and makes you float. You don't need to be a good swimmer. Be careful when you go swimming and do not let water get into your eyes. Because it really hurts. Choose Crystal Lake and there are many of them. But keep looking for the purest one, when you see the bottom. Take a bottle of mineral water for a shower after swimming in the lake. Salt lakes have similar salinity characteristics to that of the Dead Sea in Jordan. This also means that the lakes have wonderful healing properties, much stronger than regular sea water. In any case, you will have a great swim!
At 11:00 then proceed to (Cleopatra's Bath) Spring of the Sun. It was mentioned by travelers to Siwa, and legend confirms that Cleopatra swam here,
Then move to the Temple of Umm Ubaida or the Temple of Amun, just 200 meters from the Temple of the Oracle. The temple was built by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the Thirtieth Dynasty,
This structure is almost completely ruined, due to being blown up with dynamite in 1896 by an Ottoman governor who was eager to obtain building materials. The patterned wall is all that remains to be seen. Based on previous drawings by pioneer explorers, scholars have concluded that the temple was erected by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty.
12:00 (Taste Siwan lunch) at Siwan Restaurant in Abdo Restaurant.
Then you will venture into the desert and discover the great sand sea. By Jeep 4x4 and enjoy sand boarding - the best sand dunes for sand boarding in Egypt are here in the Great Sand Sea near Siwa Oasis
Visit the hot springs and cold Bir Wahid Later, we enjoy some traditional Bedouin tea at sunset overnight at the desert camp and enjoy a BBQ dinner.
If you need to sleep in a hotel instead of a camp, this is also available. We have nice environmental areas in Siwa
Siwa, Marsa Matrouh, Cairo
Breakfast at camp at 07:00 then drive again to Siwa Oasis, - Visit Shali Castle:
Shali Castle was built on a hill within a protective wall that was originally penetrated by a single gate. The maze of mud-brick buildings that comprise the castle served the inhabitants of the oasis for nearly 8 centuries. The inhabitants had to live in cramped quarters, sharing their animals, which were driven to the castle every evening. Huge chunks of salt scattered in the Siwa Oasis were used in the construction of the castle, as they helped strengthen the wall. Unfortunately, the rain proved more destructive to the castle than any human invaders. The castle was built in the 13th century and served as the center of Siouan life for more than 800 years. The castle mosque is still in use today, with many of the houses having been restored, and some of them turned into local guesthouses.
Then move on to the Mountain of the Dead, a conical mountain just over a kilometer north of Shali. Graves of the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman dynasties are cut into the side of the mountain, and there are four graves worth seeing in Jebel Nadash; Death. Si Amun's cemetery is the most beautiful in Siwa Oasis. Si-Amun appears to have been a wealthy Egyptian, perhaps of Greek origin, but a follower of the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians. The tomb contains images from the Egyptian pantheon, including a magnificent painting of the goddess Nut standing next to a sycamore tree.
Then head to Cairo, passing by Marsa Matruh for lunch, passing by to discover Marsa Matruh, Egypt's Mediterranean coast. With its white sandy beaches and clear waters, many believe that Cleopatra herself bathed in the calm waters of Mersa Matruh.
Lunch is served in Marsa Matrouh at Majdi Restaurant - Seafood Restaurant
Then return to Cairo, arriving Cairo at 20:00
